Kim Delaney is an American actress best known for playing the role of Detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she won the Emmy Award. She is also known for her role in the drama series All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. Delaney was the sole daughter of the United Auto Workers executive and his wife, who was a household worker. She grew up in a family that included four brothers. As a young girl, Delaney hoped to work as a reporter in the courtroom. However, in high school, when she started modeling commercials, she moved to New York. Her first appearance acting was when she was a young, innocent girl in the show All My Children. Delaney has appeared in a variety of television shows, films and dramatics since then. The professional life she has had is much more lucrative than her personal life. The talented actress struggled to overcome alcoholism and had two marriages fall apart. In 2005, she lost custody of her sole son.
