Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television journalist, commentator and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976 she was a part of the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). She was hired by NBC News Washington two years following that as general reporter. Beginning in 1981, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988 she became the the chief reporter for Congress. She was made Chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the the chief correspondent for foreign affairs at NBC News. Mitchell was a guest on the TV news show Meet the Press as a host and panelist. Mitchell participated on a panel during the 1988 debates with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell was awarded the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government as well as in 2004 in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) presented Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her contribution to the protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first covered in the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of the terms of President Ronald Reagan. She reported on a variety of notable stories, including weapons control, the budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal and went on numerous trips with the president Reagan to summits together with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world leaders.
